Storm Work, Tree Failures, & the Importance of Having Your Trees Assessed

Emergency Tree Removal & Storm Damage Cleanup

We have had quite an active winter here in Nevada County. In January, we experienced multiple atmospheric river storm events that saturated the soil and came with gusty winds, a recipe for tree failures. We received many calls for assistance responding to storm related incidents, several of which were catastrophic. Thankfully, no one was injured. However, we’re told that navigating repairs and insurance claims have been a headache for our clients.

24/7 Emergency Response—We Are Available Day or Night

One client alerted us overnight that a tree had failed and gone through the roof. Our lead arborist Matt was there at dawn to assess the situation, had a crew and crane there by 9am, and the roof tarped by noon! On several occasions, our quick response times saved clients a lot of further damage by getting roofs tarped ASAP before the next round of storms and precipitation made its way into the area.

Prevent tree failure with certified arborist assessment

As happy as we are to be able to provide a service in a time of need, it is hard knowing that in most cases these tree failures could have been prevented had a qualified arborist assessed the property prior. Skilled arborists are trained to read trees in a way that the general public cannot, and detect defects and hazardous conditions before they present themselves in the form of a tree failure. If you have not had your trees inspected in the last couple of years, now is a great time to schedule a consultation while the industry is in its slow season. Our lead arborist Matt, is a certified arborist and a qualified tree risk assessor.

Back in December the team craned out a large black oak which had failed due to armillaria root rot. The importance of having your trees inspected regularly cannot be overstated, especially when structures come into play!

This tree was approximately 36" in diameter and did a ton of damage. The client was inside when it happened and made it out with no injuries, thank goodness 🙌
